The Assignment
Turn a release into an operating campaign.
During Asian Doll’s Let’s Do a Drill 2 release cycle, Yasheen Vickers worked across the functions that sit behind artist visibility: distributor communication, catalog and ownership issues, a written digital rollout plan, record servicing, publicity development, paid-appearance administration and producer outreach. The documented window reviewed for this case study spans February–April 2023.
01
Release Operations

Vydia coordination + catalog triage

Management correspondence placed Vickers inside the release workflow before the tape went public. When roughly 77 catalog ownership conflicts surfaced, he proposed moving uncontested material first, conducting due diligence on older agreements and finding practical ways to satisfy the distributor relationship without pretending every legacy record was immediately deliverable.

02
Strategy

Seven-page digital rollout

A written plan connected Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, record pools, creator content, reaction channels, interviews and digital advertising into one release architecture. Campaign targets in that plan are treated here as strategy—not as completed results.

03
Music

Record servicing

Campaign correspondence documents WAV circulation for “Party,” “Quit Blamin’” and “Throw Them Bands,” moving the operation from broad project promotion into song-level servicing.

04
Demand + Monetization

Media development and paid appearances

Outreach targeted Billboard, Fire in the Booth, BIG FACTS, The Progress Report and other interview/freestyle platforms. Separate payment records document booking-related transactions tied to Sweets Nightclub and New Jersey walkthrough dates—evidence of management activity moving beyond exposure into commercial appearance administration.

“The work was not simply keeping an artist visible. It was connecting the music, the obligations, the opportunities and the money around the release.”

Case Study Takeaway

Management is the connective tissue.

This campaign demonstrates a multi-function management role: identifying release bottlenecks, coordinating stakeholders, building a promotion architecture, servicing music, developing media opportunities, administering bookings and keeping the next recording cycle moving. No unsupported streaming or revenue milestone is required to make the case—the operating record is the proof.

Evidence standard. This case study is intentionally limited to activity supported by contemporaneous management correspondence and public release information. Proposed ad spend, projected video views, pitches and developing events are not represented as completed outcomes. One Sovereign Brands/Belaire-related event in the reviewed correspondence was cancelled and is therefore not presented as a delivered activation.
